Timothy and Natalie – engaged!

Tim was at a Halloween party when he saw a beautiful and intriguing woman from far away. She made such an impression on him that, months later, when she thought they were seeing each other for the first time, he remembered her and considered this night in the bar to be a dream come true. Tim and Natalie talked until the bar shut down for the night. Natalie was the one to invite him on their official first date. She won major points for inviting him to a baseball game (and could have lost them all by showing up in a jersey celebrating the rival team). Luckily, Tim barely noticed the jersey, and paid all his attention to their conversation, which lasted through the game and through the dinner and eventually through all their time at Sam Houston State University and which lead them together to their dream destination: Austin. One year, as Christmas approached, Tim planned the perfect proposal. It involved going to a romantic tree farm, riding a hay wagon while drinking hot chocolate and listening to carolers, then asking Natalie to be his wife just before cutting down their perfect Christmas tree. He got permission from her parents (Natalie’s dad told him he was crazy, but welcomed him to the family). Tim had an incredible ring custom made for her, one that he “could only hope would even sparkle in the presence of Natalie’s beauty” (his words – awww!). Everything was going according to plan… until they got to the Christmas tree farm, which had been bulldozed and replaced by a new subdivision. Natalie remembers him being a little oddly excited about the whole thing beforehand, and then a bit unreasonably disappointed about the tree farm no longer existing. She tried to comfort him, insisting they could just pick up a tree at Walmart, which only seemed to make things worse. At any rate, they decided to go to a favorite Mexican restaurant for some dinner. During the meal, Natalie told Tim about the dream she’d had the night before – in which Tim had proposed to her! Tim looked strange and shocked, so she quickly began to reassure him, insisting she didn’t even really want to get married. In truth, she had always dreamed of being swept off her feet by her Prince Charming, who would break out in song and dance during the proposal, getting everyone around to join in, while a white dove swooped down to place the ring on her finger… or something equally romantic. After dinner, they walked outside to a beautiful fountain entirely lit up by white Christmas lights. They stood there for a moment, while Tim was fidgeting (trying to pull out the well-hidden ring). His face was as white as a sheet, and she thought he was going to be sick. When he bent down (to get on the all-important one knee), she was certain he was about to ruin her Uggs. She turned away to give him a little privacy, but he told her he wasn’t sick. She turned back, and saw him on his knee with the ring. For one confused moment she thought he was joking (she’d had NO idea he was really going to propose – maybe he was teasing her because of her dream?). Of course he was serious, and she was beyond happy. In fact, she decided that this proposal, the funniest and most romantic thing to ever have happen to her, was way better than any singing or doves…

Tim and Natalie’s romantic fairy-tale wedding will take place in January. We can’t wait!
